Rapper Kanye West made his way to the Billboard charts recently with his new album, Jesus Is King.

What We Know:

  • West’s ninth album, Jesus Is King was released by G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam Recordings on October 25. According to Billboard, the week ending October 31, Jesus Is King earned 264,00 album units in the U.S. 109,000 of those units were album sales, while the rest added up to streaming activity.
  • West’s new album makes this his ninth consecutive debut at #1, tying with Detroit rapper/native, Eminem. West’s only album that didn’t make it #1 was his first album, The College Dropout, which peaked at #2 during its release.
  • West and Eminem are also tied at having the most consecutive #1 hits on the Billboard charts. Together, the two are ahead of the classic Liverpool band, The Beatles, who had all eight of their albums reach #1.
  • With his ninth album topping the charts, West is can include himself along with five other acts who have the sixth-most #1 hits in the country. Those acts are country singer Garth Brooks, rappers Drake and Eminem, pop legend Madonna and London rock group, the Rolling Stones.

Shout out to Kanye for getting back comfy on the Billboard charts at #1! Have you had a chance to listen to Jesus Is King yet? If so, what are your favorite tracks? Sound off in the comments!
