‘Borat’ Sequels Drops Early As Rudy Giuliani Slams Sacha Baron Cohen Over Controversial Scene

The Borat sequel, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, dropped on Amazon Prime just moments before the final 2020 presidential debate kicked off. It was initially scheduled to premiere on Friday, October 23rd.

What We Know:

  • NBC News has reported that as they previewed the mockumentary prior to its release, the politician emerges in the film, having fallen for a humiliating joke created by Sasha Baron Cohen, who of course, we all know as Borat.
  • In the film, Giuliani is seen reclining on a bed, putting his hand down his pants and moving it around for what seems to be a few seconds as the actress playing Borat’s teenage daughter, Maria Bakalova (24), pretending to be a television reporter, stands in front of him. Cohen, costumed as Borat, then walks in the room and offers himself to the politician, who replies, “I don’t want you.”
  • NBC News noted that it’s unclear what occurred before or after the event supposedly took place in the movie.

  • Giuliani has spoken out about the questionable scene. On Wednesday, October 22nd, the former mayor of New York City tweeted that the scene in which he appears is a “complete fabrication”.

“I was tucking in my shirt after taking off the recording equipment. At no time before, during, or after the interview was I ever inappropriate. If Sacha Baron Cohen implies otherwise he is a stone-cold liar.”

  • Giuliani also stated that “the NY Post today reports ‘it looks to me like an exaggeration through editing”.

“As soon as I realized it was a setup, I called the police, which has been noted in the THR article on July 8th.”

Cohen responded to Giuliani’s claims as Borat in a video posted to Twitter.

on

Issa Rae married her fiancé, Louis Diame, in a private ceremony in the South of France this weekend.

What We Know:

  • The “Insecure” star and co-creator, 36, confirmed the news Monday on her Instagram.

“A) Impromptu photo shoot in a custom @verawang dress. B) My girls came to help me, but they all coincidentally had on the same dress! They were sooooo embarrassed. C) Then I took a few flicks with Somebody’s Husband,” she joked.

  • In the photos, Rae posed in a custom, strapless Vera Wang gown along with a floor-length veil and a bouquet of neutral-colored roses. Her businessman husband, for his part, wore a red velvet suit by Dolce & Gabbana.  Rae also shared picture of her five bridesmaids in matching mauve dresses. Each of them held miniature versions of the bride’s rose bouquet.
  • The photos were geo-tagged at Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, a French commune overlooking the Ligurian Sea.  Engagement rumors sparked in early 2019 when Rae wore a giant diamond ring on the cover of Essence. Reps for Rae wouldn’t comment on the relationship at the time, but her “Insecure” co-stars confirmed the news shortly after.
Congratulations to the newly weds!

Live Nation Announces $20 All-in Tickets Summer Concert Campaign

Published

on

Live Nation announced its “Return to Live” summer concert campaign, offering fans $20 all-in tickets to nearly 1,000 shows this year.

What We Know:

  • In a statement via Livenation.com the company proclaimed “the time is here to get outside and catch live music with friends, family and loved ones at over 40 Live Nation amphitheaters all across the country.” There are country, latin, metal, pop, and rock shows for fans to choose from. Lil Baby, Rod Wave, Pitbull and Trippie Redd are among the hip hop artists participating in the promotion.
  • Two months after Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino held a conference call to discuss the company’s financial results for the first quarter of 2021. Live Nation’s quarterly revenues were decimated by 98% last summer and 95% in the fall. Rapino also mentioned Live Nation was communicating with artists about scheduling tour dates safely. According to Rapino, at the time, there were some acts comfortable with performing this summer, and others who preferred to wait until 2022.

“Artists are patient and smart, we’re not looking to cram three years into one. Spread [the postponed tours] over two years and you find enough weekends.”

  • Rapino revealed that the pandemic also allowed Live Nation time to discuss new products that will help the company think differently about the fan and the artist. An increased virtual approach is one of the methods the company plans to pursue. Rapino said he’s “very confident that the next couple of years” will include new models for subscription and ad-business ideas as well as NFTs becoming a big attraction.

T-Mobile and Sprint customers will receive exclusive 24-hour early access to grab the $20 all-in tickets beginning Tuesday, July 27th. Everyone else can get their tix Wednesday, July 28th on Live Nation’s website.

on

Pop Smoke has the No. 1 album in America.  The rapper died February 19, 2020.

What We Know:

  • A little over a year after the world received his posthumous debut album, Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon, Pop Smoke’s team regrouped to unveil another one, entitled Faith. It arrived earlier this month, with 20 songs and appearances from Kanye West, Pusha T, Rick Ross, The-Dream, 42 Dugg, 21 Savage, Dua Lipa, and many more. A week and a half after its release, Faith just became the second No. 1 album for the late musician.
  • The album debuted atop the Billboard 200 for the chart dated July 31. Faith achieved this by selling 88,000 total album units, with 83,000 of that being streaming equivalent album units, thanks to over 113 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks. Pure albums sales contributed an additional 4,000 units to its first week numbers. Faith joins Shoot For The Stars, Aim For The Moon as the No. 1 projects in Pop Smoke’s catalog, and it makes for his third album to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200.

  • Faith debut atop the album charts comes days after a deluxe edition of the project was released. In total, four songs with guest appearances from G Herbo, OnPointLikeOP, Killa, Dread Woo, and Travi were added to the album.

Fans on social media have praised the album and continue to celebrate Pop Smoke as ‘one of the greatest rappers of our time.’
