Floyd Mayweather to Fight YouTube Star Logan Paul in Miami

Published

on

The fight will occur at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida on June 6.

What We Know:

  • Five-time world champion Floyd Mayweather announced the event on Instagram this Tuesday. In his post, he mentioned Mayweather Promotions, Fanmio, and Showtime are teaming up to produce this “epic event”. Viewers at home can watch the boxing match via pay-per-view on Showtime in the United States, or Fanmio in other nations. Showtime has not provided any prices as of yet, but those watching on Fanmio can purchase the competition for $49.99. Tickets also go on sale next week.
  • Prior to Tuesday’s announcement, the fight was originally scheduled for February but had been postponed indefinitely due to COVID-19 restrictions. Since then, it was billed as a “special exhibition”.
  • Mayweather told The Disruptive Entrepreneur podcast he believed a fight between him and Logan Paul meant they could “go out, entertain, have fun, and make nine figures, $100 million or more.” The Athletic mentions that “Mayweather’s eye for money led him into verbal exchanges with Paul.” The latter immediately responded and the two began discussing a potential match. After the initial February event fell through, Mayweather pulled some strings with his connection at Showtime. The company was willing to promote the show on their platform because of “the drawing power of the social-media influencer brothers in the ring,” referring to Jake and Logan Paul.
  • Mayweather’s statement did not specify how many rounds the duo will fight nor the size of gloves they will use. According to Fanmio, additional rules and the undercard will be released soon. However, TalkSport reported some undercard information has begun leaking. For example, Jean Pascal will rematch Badou Jack for WBA’s “regular” light-heavyweight belt. Jarret Hurd will also go up against Luis Arias. For the third undercard, there are rumors it may feature celebrities.
  • TheGrio wrote that some fans believe the match is a way for Mayweather and Paul to make some more money. They feel it will be similar to the fight between Mayweather and Conor McGregor.

  • Logan is a novice to the world of boxing. Initially a YouTube star, he began a professional boxing career in 2019. He has only fought once and lost to fellow YouTuber KSI in November 2019. Jake also recently broke out of YouTube and started boxing. Jake has a better reputation in the boxing world, beating figures such as Nate Robinson and Ben Askren.
  • Mayweather will come out of retirement for the second time for the June 6th match. The boxer, who has 50 wins and 0 losses, as well as 27 knockouts (KOs), last defeated McGregor by a 10th round technical knockout (TKO) in August 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mayweather has won titles in the junior lightweight, lightweight, junior welterweight, welterweight, and junior middleweight divisions. He also defeated Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018 during an exhibition bout.

Mayweather is also coining the match as an “epic crossover event”. He is currently preparing for it at the Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas. Mayweather intends on carrying it a few rounds, similarly to how he did in the McGregor fight.

Naya Rivera’s Family Scores Huge Victory In Wrongful Death Battle Over Tragic Drowning

Published

on

The path has been cleared for Naya Rivera’s family to sue Ventura County for wrongful death after the singer died on July 8, 2020 while boating in Lake Piru with her three-year-old son, Josey.

via: Radar Online

According to court documents, the judge presiding over the suit against Ventura County shut down the defendant’s attempt to block Naya’s family from collecting punitive damages.

Back in November, Naya’s ex-husband Ryan filed a lawsuit against Ventura County over the tragic 2020 drowning incident. The actress had rented a pontoon boat at Lake Piru.

Her son was found sleeping alone on the boat hours later. A massive search was launched, and her body was eventually found. Investigators found Naya and her son were swimming, but she did not get back on the boat.

Her son said she threw him onto the boat but then she disappeared. In his lawsuit, Ryan, who filed on behalf of their son, accused Ventura County of not complying with safety standards.

He claims the boat was “not equipped with a safely accessible ladder, adequate rope, an anchor, a radio or any security mechanisms to prevent swimmers from being separated from their boats, nor any flotation or lifesaving devices.

He says this is in violation of California law. Ryan claims the lake had no signs warning of the dangerous conditions of the lake. He also says the person who rented the boat to his ex did not warn either to wear a life vest. The county denies that claim.

Ventura County denied all claims they were responsible for the incident and moved to dismiss the case. The defendants recently asked the court to block Ryan and Naya’s family from seeking punitive damages, which could be millions. In the recent decision, the judge denied the request.

The order reads, “The allegations of specific statutory violations regarding safety equipment and noncompliance with the conditional use permit regarding signage, as well as allegations that defendant knew of the dangers of the lake, and had received complaints from other patrons, that over two dozen individuals had died in the lake, that Parks and Recreation failed to instruct Ms. Rivera to wear her life vest, failed to outfit the boat with a flotation device, and failed to outfit the boat with an anchor which could have prevented Ms.Rivera from being separated from her boat and ultimately drowning.

The judge said the allegations presented in the suit are “sufficient for purposes of pleading to (arguably) reflect “despicable conduct with a “willful and conscious disregard of the rights and safety of others.

“The allegations include that it was the officers and directors of Parks & Recreation Management who received the complaints and “decided to ignore them, he noted.

Hopefully it brings the family some peace.

It looks like Diddy still has his eyes on Yung Miami amid rumors he’s dating Joie Chavis. After Yung Miami posted new thirs trap on social media, Diddy couldn’t help but leave flirty comments on it.

via: Rap-Up

After the two were spotted getting cozy earlier this year, the Bad Boy is once again showing the City Girl love. Miami posted a series of sexy pics on Instagram over the weekend, which had Diddy feeling some type of way.

“AWWWW SHIIIIIIT !!!! an excited Puff commented on the thirst trap, along with the flame and sunglasses face emoji.

He also added, “SHAWTY WOP!!

This is not the first time the pair has sparked speculation over their relationship. In August, Miami shared a video of herself seated in Diddy’s lap while drinking his DeLeon tequila. Prior to that, the rumored couple showed PDA as they held hands while attending a birthday party for Quality Control CEO Pierre “Pee Thomas in Atlanta.

This came just around one month after Miami unfollowed Chavis. Miami took the move after the latter was caught on camera cozying up to the hip-hop mogul while on a romantic yacht vacation.
